This report contains four major sections: 1) define the scope of campus violence at institutions of higher education in Massachusetts and nationally; 2) establish best practices for enhancing campus safety and violence prevention; 3) assess the current state of security and violence on the campuses of public institutions of higher education; and 4) present 27 recommendations to the Massachusetts Department of Education composed of strategies and action items required to improve the school security and violence prevention efforts within the state.
