Summary of Key Points, Issues, Conclusions:
This report is the summation of a fact finding task force by the State of Florida in order to improve security on their university and college campuses as well as foster better communication among health, education and law enforcement agencies in regards to campus safety. The Task Force produces a detailed list of recommendations for improvement and actions to be implemented on the federal, state, state-wide university system, and individual campuses, and lists them accordingly. There are also recommendations set in place for statewide departments, such as the Department of Children and Families, as well as the Florida Association of Court Clerks and Comptrollers; for example to expand efforts at statewide communication strategies to improve services for mental health and substance abuse. All of the recommendations created by the task force are based upon the following criteria: prevention, concerning both on and off campus efforts and issues, intervention, response to crisis situations, and dealing with the aftermath of an event, including post incident capabilities and procedures necessary to deal with victims and their families. The report also includes the minutes and agendas of previous task force meetings, and surveys and their corresponding results regarding campus safety.
