Master of Science in Homeland Security

Texas A&M has begun planning and faculty collaboration for a master of science in homeland security. As envisioned, the program would include a core of common policy courses, with electives concentrated in various departments to provide a tailored focus according to student interests. The final shape of the program has not been set, but participants in planning include: Agriculture, the Bush School, Vet Medicine, Public Health, Geography, GS, Engineering, Architecture, Urban Planning, and many others.

Offered only via web-based distance education, the Certificate in Homeland Security (CHLS) provides graduate education opportunities to homeland security professionals and future leaders in a flexible format that accommodates the needs of working professionals. The program coursework gives students a broad understanding of homeland security issues and strategies at the national level with an in-depth analysis of key security issues affecting federal, state, and local government, as well as private business.

Urban Planning, Hazard Planning, Emergency Management

The Hazard Reduction Recovery Center provides two graduate degree programs and several research and project opportunities, which provide an ideal platform to prepare for careers in Emergency Management, Hazard Planning and Disaster Research. The degrees are the Master of Urban Planning (MUP) with a Core Curriculum in Hazards Planning, and the Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Science with a Core Curriculum in Hazards Planning Hands-on Emergency Management.
