Summary of Key Issues, Points, Conclusions:
Created in 1999 by Presidential Directive 63, the Financial Services Information Sharing Analysis Center (FS/ISAC) was originally intended to help financial institutions deal with the threat of the Y2K Bug. Since the development of the Department of Homeland Security, the FS/ISAC now works to keep individuals informed about physical and cyber related threats. The FS/ISAC is a network of public and private institutions, as well as government agencies, that work together to spread information and share best practices in regards to protecting America’s financial infrastructure.
Through the website, members of the FS/ISAC can access the organization’s Critical Infrastructure Notification System, which allows security alerts to be rapidly shared amongst members. Members can also submit anonymous security alerts to the FS/ISAC, which will be reviewed by specialists for potential solutions.
